Happy Earth Day my dear friends! It seems most of us are sharing in this gorgeous weather for the weekend. Did you get a chance to trek it outdoors for some fun? Or read all the awesome Links of (Boston Marathon) Love? The photo above was taken on a Tahoe trip from a couple years ago. Isn’t he a cutie. Such a poser!
I don’t know if you heard me whine and complain on Twitter about how my cat doesn’t let me sleep. So Wed. & Thurs. I was surviving off 5 1/2 hours of sleep per night. I can’t hang. I get cranky, space out, and become totally jittery off the coffee I pound to stay away. LOL. Since Mac and the youngin’ are in Nevada I’ve been going to bed later since I have no schedule to really keep. But my cat, Mr. King of the House, Cody, wants in the house at 5am. And he is like Garfield – that big fat orange cartoon cat – will meow his heart out until… someone lets him in the house (pain in the *ss cat). Sure, I let him in. But then he wants to play, open other doors in the house, be fed, etc… Ah! I need my husband back so he can get up early morning with Cody as he usually does (Mac likes the early mornings because its quiet house coffee time). LOL.
So, Friday was supposed to be bunco night. I couldn’t hang. Unfortunately, I had to cancel. So, I made it a ME night in. Got the PJs on. The ponytail up. And fixed me some Dill-Lemon Salmon, a whole tray of parmesan Kale chips, and roasted red herbed potatoes. It was so good. Don’t forget the NewCastle! And ordered in – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie. Intense freakin’ movie. I need to finish the book(s)! Think I’ve only gotten to page 10 of the first book. I just don’t have time to read!
DIY Spa Day & Lazy Day
Since I am playing single girl – in the aspect of schedules and responsibilities – I took an early morning Hot Flow Yoga class at Addicted to Yoga. It was my plan to have a DIY spa day. And heated yoga just sounded like the right thing to do to get it started.
Cute little yoga studio. There were flowers painted along the wall. You were to put your yoga mat in between the flowers – space markers. Totally cute idea.
I LOVED this class!
Well, because I ran and lifted heavy weights the day before… it made it harder to hold the poses and I was sore. But I was so jazzed – yoga made me realize how much stronger my cross training has made me. My core is stronger and can hold the poses without beginner modifications. I was able to add the modifications to make some of the poses harder! Awesome sauce!
And I met some lovely ladies.
While I plan on taking this class again. I hear the HOT one to take for the challenge is the Bikram Yoga – HOT and 90-min long. Sounds like a great challenge. Have you taken Bikram Yoga?
You know what comes after workout? Heck yes, a Venti iced-coffee with soy milk and 3 pumps of classic syrup. And I had a bacon-gouda egg sandwich for breakfast, too.
[Laid around][Was Lazy][Browsed Internet] for a few hours. <= Not shown.
Left over salmon. Halved organic strawberries. Brown rice with soy sauce. Lazy Saturday NewCastle.
I finally got my ass off the couch to go buy the rest of my DIY Spa materials. New Essie nail polish in Secret Story…
Made a pit stop to Sport Chalet to try on the Merrell Barefoot Run Pace Glove shoe. I really liked them. But they didn’t have the color I wanted. So, I walked out empty handed, but did find out I will need to buy a size up.
Back home. Girlie time. Painted my toes with the new polish. Do you every feel funny and self conscious to show a photograph of your feet? I do. Haha.
True Story: But a surfer dude, back in high school, once went crazy in class on the only day I ever wore sandals to school, claiming I had the total perfect surfer foot. And Beau (that was his name) was such a cutie and a wrestler. So, I have to think my feet are okay to show in photos. I think Beau had a foot fetish. You think? And I may have wore sandals again. But… I didn’t want the attention drawn to my feet again. Embarrassing!
Second part of my DIY spa treatment. Good ole’ Biore strips on the nose. I was really wanting an expensive facial. But I had to do it myself. The coming months are some expensive ones – Prom, Graduations & its parties, birthdays, moving, BLEND Retreat, Health & Fitness Blog Conference, and Overland and Expo.
Oh ya, I didn’t tell you… but yes, I am going to BLEND retreat in Boulder, CO in a couple of weeks. So excited to meet lots of cool ladies I admire.
Ok, so… Ponytail check. Sparkly Soul headband check. Washed the face with my favorite Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser. Biore stripped it. Waited 15 minutes. And peeled it off slowly. Ouch! I’m blessed with oily skin (sarcasm). With the warmer weather, I have to pay more attention than usual to keep it clean.
I wanted to make an oatmeal face mask after this, but I was out of time (guess I was too-too lazy today).
My mom came over so we could take Ethan (my son) to try on tuxedos for prom. He’s not excited about the big deal grandma & I are making over it. But to us, its like a right of passage. He feels the same about graduation – why are we having a party and celebrating. Hello?! These are important things in your young adult life!
Well, I was bummed he didn’t get to try any on. They just size him up. And just had him pick out the style by what’s on the sheet. Whatever! What if its just not the right cut? I’ll leave it alone. Here is my credit card. Cha-ching. (Better look good!)
He tries the tuxedo on when it comes in the shop on Thursday.
Now I am just finished my lazy day by watching the tube with my son and typing away this blog post.
Happy Earth Day!
Are you doing anything to celebrate and/or respect Earth Day? Hiking, recycling, repurposing, cutting out the electricity for a day, having a picnic, gardening…
