OMG! Pillsbury just came out with a new line of Gluten-Free Doughs (Chocolate Chip Cookie dough, pie & pastry pastry dough and a thin crust pizza dough to be exact!). Look at the Chocolate Chips loaded in this cookie dough! When Pillsbury asked me if I would like to try out their new product line with a recipe of my own or one found on the website, I was intrigued to see how a gluten-free product holds to the taste test in our family.
Fortunately, our family doesn’t have any reason to be on a Gluten-Free diet. But many of my friends are on GF diets. To be able to provide them with gluten-free dessert choices during a foodie gathering would be awesome!
Generally, this family likes their cookies the old-fashioned way. And contended the Pillsbury Gluten Free chocolate chip cookies were quite tasty as is!
I, on the other hand, enjoy extra additions in my cookies. And opted for dried cranberries and pecans. I combined about a 1/4 cup of my addition mixture. Then just added a pinch of it to each tablespoon of cookie dough. And rolled it in a ball. Cook appox. 11-13 minutes. And wha-la! Pimped-up GF Chocolate Chip cookies!
- For each cookie, shape 2 tablespoons cookie dough around a pinch of your combination choice , covering completely. Roll into a ball, 2 1/2 inches apart, on cooking parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
My Thoughts: For being Gluten-Free, they are tasty. And they are only 110 calories per cookie. They have a softer texture than I am used to in my cookies. I would be interested in trying to add GF oatmeal perhaps for a thicker texture. The fact that they come in a ready mix tub makes it super easy to experiment in the kitchen.
*Note: I was just told that if you like soft baked cookies, then you will love these! Child says.
