7 Favorite Campgrounds in the U.S.

Now that the sun is starting to show itself, I wanna to go play outside. Don’t you? Camping reservations made. Getting ready to hike some routes. So, I asked a few of my fellow bloggers “What’s your favorite place(s) to camp in the North America and why?”

California

Twin Lakes Campground, Mammoth Lakes, CA – this by far is my favorite campground. There are 4 lakes accessible by car or trolly in the surrounding area (considered the Mammoth Lake Basin). Then other lakes are accessible by trail, such as Lake McLeod (pictured above). During the summer, there is a trolly that will take you around all the lakes and the town so you can adventure in guided or self-hikes, drinking margaritas & listening to local music, mountain biking, boating, etc…

California #2

Yosemite Nat’l Park, CA – Sarah over at Sarah Kay Hoffman loves Yosemite because it is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It’s so remote and provides a sense of peace and true zen! << Two for California!

New York

Indian Lake NY – Middle of the Adirondak Mountain Chain – Eric over at Roc The Run loves this place because of the isolation, dozens of mountains, miles of trails, miles of waterways. And you can canoe out to an island and have it for ourself. << Sounds like the recreation of Blue Lagoon, Eric.

Utah

Goblin Valley, UT – Janetha from Meals & Moves loves Utah for camping. She says, “it is one of the best camping places in the world and I live here, super lucky! I love Goblin Valley for the crazy, unique formations. I also love camping in the area because of the hikes and natural swimming pools, complete with cliff jumping. I think my favorite part about camping (aside from campfire meals) is that you can take your dogs! Every vacation is better with dogs!” << Thank you for sharing the great pic of Penny steeling Randy’s bone. Too cute!

Colorado

Mt. Yale, CO – Heather from Just A Colorado Gal shared her favorite camping location with us – the base of Mt. Yale, just outside of Buena Vista, CO. She likes it because it deserted, nearby stream for the pups, and a few 14ers right out your door. << I had to look up “14ers”. Us So. Californians are clueless. And I LOVE the picture!

Georgia

High Falls State Park – Tiffany from A Little Campy says this campground is like, “hanging out with an old friend- unpretentious, easy and familiar. As soon as we drive through the gates, relaxation washes over me like the sunshine peeping through the pine trees. The fishing is good. You can fish on the river or on the lake. Fireflies beckon to us at dusk. And we always have fun around the campfire. It is so easy and relaxing. With three kids, you really learn to appreciate easy and relaxing.” She also offers two more favorite campgrounds in the state of Georgia. << fun around the campfire is my fave! S'mores!

The Great Backyard

The Great Backyard – Robin over at Simple. Green. Organic. Happy loves camping in her backyard with young kids because it’s something we can do on a whim, for free, and a bathroom is never too far away. It’s great practice for camping “for real,” but really drives home the idea that spending time in the outdoors and unplugging is something that is natural, fun, and easy to incorporate into our lives. Not to mention, there’s plenty of wildlife in your own backyard… I’ve seen it << This story behind that last sentence would make a great campfire tale!
