Notepad: Joshua Tree & Flat Kitty

I fibbed. There was one more reason for going to Joshua Tree National Park this weekend beside testing a heart rate monitor and enjoying the gorgeous weather.

I wanted to take Flat Kitty on a road trip.

BTW, Flat Kitty (pic above) is about 5,700+ feet in elevation on Ryan’s Mountain. **I don’t think he was very happy about the long hike.**

However, we started the morning car trip scarfing down our packed container of Overnight Oats (It was damn good!!):

  • Coach’s Oats
  • Blueberry CHObani Yogurt
  • Coconut Milk
  • Chopped Walnuts
  • Shredded Coconut

Sorry, no pic of breakfast. We were on the run, excited to start our day!

I am so lucky its to be near such a gorgeous place. When we got there, we mapped our hiking trails. It would be the Mill, Bridge’s damn, and then Ryan’s Mountain (and anything in between).

We never did see the mill, but we found remnants of an old house with fireplace and a rusted spring bed frame. We also saw nature at its best, rock climbers, remnants of past life, and petroglyphs. Actually, the petroglyphs are painted over but the real ones are under there.

We weaved in and out of different trails, watched many rock climbers from afar, and I listened to my husband talk about how Joshua Tree reminded him of Mars. LOL.

I also took a few videos giving you my version of the Passport Player through Joshua Tree. Watch out. Some will make you dizzy.

Of course, we were all parched from the desert hike and had to visit the local Saloon. ;)
I used my YELP app for my iPhone and got a kamikaze shot for $1. Score!

Then dined on a Turkey Sandwich. It was okay. Did its job.

Are you more of a mountain, desert, forest, or ocean kinda person?

Watch out for that….

Here is my Passport Player version of Joshua Tree for you. Mind you, I can’t see what is in front of my face except for the camera. Word is, you should also watch out for people! ;)
