OMG! I am so NOT ready for this!
It’s only a Nerd Alert because I spent part of my day constructing a spreadsheet to keep my *ss on track! I don’t take credit for making the plan. I got it from the marathon walking site (because originally I was going to walk my marathon, but running seems so much quicker). Then I condensed it to reflect only the weeks I was training for (since I started late), added “Total Miles Due” and “Total Miles Done” columns, with a =/- total column. And I am slacking!! I blame it partially on Monotony, partially on letting my IT band rest, and partially on me going to bed way too late.
Song of the Week
Who doesn’t Love the Pixies? I’m kind of stuck in the 80′s bands regime right now. Plus, sometimes I just need to be reminded of Fight Club (as this 80s song was used in the soundtrack). Because its about two hot guys (Brad and Edward) and having a f*cking attitude. Just run it.
Note: Um ya, don’t take after me right now for showing a positive, get go attitude on marathon training. LOL. I’ve “hit a wall”. Well, least the updates are in true form. I guess you can see what you are up against. LOL.
Monday: IT band rest & recovery.
Tuesday: IT band rest & recovery.
Wednesday: IT band rest & recovery.
But I COULD have, at least, cross-trained or something. No excuses. However, I did put a call out on twitter asking how you all stay motivated while training for a marathon and received some great feedback and a share of pains about being stuck in a rut or losing steam.
Then I remembered about Zombies-Run! iphone app and downloaded that. Because it sounds like running from zombies would be good motivation! Look forward to trying it out on my next run.
I probably shouldn’t leave it sitting next to the Bible app.
TerryTyson made a funny with, “Hire a hit man to break your legs if you don’t train. That’ll get ya going, lady. #paingain”. He has a point. That would make me train. But I think I’ll stick to zombies. LOL.
VeggieRunnersUK gave the best tip, “Need to break monotony – ignore schedule for a week or so. Gym, swim, cycle, yoga, run with friends or a club…”.
Great tip. It’s one of the reasons I took up swimming part of last week. So I didn’t stop training all together.
I need to remember that one of the reasons I am doing this marathon is to build up my courage and to show myself that true happiness comes from within.
Lisa ran 4 last night, cuz she said she promised me. Which means I can’t slack with my next run. Social media proving to be a great resource for running motivation.
Thursday: I got bored. Needed to get some miles in. Hit the evening with a 2.47 mile run and I noticed my pace is picking up! Would have ran longer but the vampires would be lurking soon.
Saturday: 3 miles late in the morning (because I was too busy enjoying the quiet morning on reflection and journaling). The temps were already pretty warm. But glad I got the run in.
Sunday: 6.09 miles on the treadmill. I had the gym to myself for most of the run. It was pretty boring. Ended up watching some teenage genre movie on VH1.
But later, I met a woman who has lost 46 pounds by working out and eating a Paleo diet. Kudos to her for taking charge.
Total Miles: 12 miles. Pitiful, because I was supposed to do 24.
Needs to work on: Getting back into the game! Hello.
Question for you: Beer, Wine or Mixed drink?
